Hi All. I'm planning to move to Phuket in June. We've chosen Phuket as my husband is a Dive Master. I've heard that the teaching market in Phuket is competitive. I have a BA in Applied English and Linguistics, and I'm doing CELTA in Cape Town before I leave. Just a few questions:
- I know June isn't an ideal time to go, as most of the schools have hired for the school year, but do you reckon there will still be jobs available?
- What are the advantages/ disadvantages of working for a government school versus language school, and what would be your preference?
- Then, salaries. What salary bracket should I be aiming for? I know salaries won't be as high as Bangkok, but I'd imagine they're better in Phuket than in the rural areas.
- Lastly, has anyone worked for ECC?
Thanks for the help.
Mrs Scribbles.
P.S. It's my first time teaching, although I'm sure you've already picked that up! |
