Dear Friends:
I was just checking on-line Real estate ads for HCMC and couldn't believe the prices that I saw - $2,000 for an apartment! I thought living in Viet-Nam was relatively inexpensive. What are most of you paying and for what? What is the best way to go about finding rental housing? Should we just stay at a hotel and then look once we are there?
Which hotel would you recommend for average senior people.
Thanks

Its a load of crap for fancy pants rich people.

I am renting out an apartment for 3.5 mil a month *dong not dollars which equates to 195 US* and there are cheaper places for the same ammenities and a landlord who doesnt drag his ass on fixing the router when it blows up and leaves the tenants without "FREE" internet for a month

search around, and get friendly with what i call local foreigners they will point you in the right direction for a place to stay and some of the hotels on Cao Thang st in District...10 or 3 i cant remember but the two districts seem to be neck and neck charge 1.5 mil a month for a room with air conditioning, internet, and a bathroom. ill post more information when i get it but for now simply venture and stalk the elusive "non foreigner price" which prowls this city.
