I have been to several schools and have a BA and a CELTA.
Many schools will hire, but only give out part-time hours.
Has this always been the case? Is there any opportunity to get more than 2 hours per week at one particular school?
Thanks, J. |

Right now, and in the future, I think people will be working part-time at at least 2 schools. I think there is an oversupply of people looking for a limited number of teaching positions. ILA, and VUS and others are hiring more and giving out less hours.
'Nam has been discovered. And with the economic crisis in the US, US, Australia, Canada, Ireland, and NZ, expect more people to discover it.

Schools give more hours to the people they like and more importantly who the students like. Popular teachers get more hours.
I get 15 to 20 hours at my school plus I teach two chinese students on the side.
Vietnamese students like entertainment and love to giggle and laugh in class. I encourage this because they are the customer and what they want they get.
You might have a master's in english and experiance, but if the students don't like you ........ |
