HI!!

I've been offered a job with ICC in Almaty, (I did read the post about the difference between ICC and ICCE), so I'm aware of that. What I would like to know is, how about accommodation there in the city? Are there any living situations in houses, or must one live in an apartment? Are there any pleasant green areas in which to live (quiet, aesthetically pleasing?)

About how much would it cost to live in a house (shared OK)? Are there any teachers there now working for ICC or other schools? How do you like it? Thanks for your help!! Looking forward to hearing from anyone!

I've been out of Almaty about 2 years, so out of date, but still visit friends and family there a lot. 2 years ago a small 1-room flat in the centre cost minimum $500 per month. Houses are very rare and expensive. There are a few big parks around, and most streets are very tree-lined. Lots of mountain views and only half an hour to the first tourist spot in the mountains themselves.

I liked Almaty a lot and will be back there again, but for now am earning better money elsewhere.

Hope you get more details with more up-to-date info soon!

I will be working in Almaty for three months or so from next week; I cannot provide exact info about flat expenses as the school has sorted that out but I believe a one bedroom flat centralish goes for around 800US$.
I have visited Almaty twice and its a beautiful city-the countryside around; the snow capped mountains surrounding it make it one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen. I also found it friendly and am looking forward to living there immensly.
See you around
