Dear freesoul,
This is just a "shot in the dark", so to speak, but is it possible the Sheikh has invented a new torture form - one the CIA might be interested in:

Sandboarding

Regards,
John

P.S. The moral here is clear: Never film your torture sessions.

There have been several negative stories out of the Gulf -including this one, in the US media recently.
I hate to say this..but one wonders if such news reporting would have seen the light of day a year or so ago under an Administration that shall remain nameless.

Apparently, both Cheney and Rummy felt they had the right, no...duty, to control the press. Just ask al-Jazeera or the Guardian.

Ah no, it would have been shown. There is nothing the American media (and the previous administration) loved more than a story which showed Arabs in a bad light. In particular to the admin, it justifies as their crimes...

Must I really explain..why not?
I'll bet you're old enough to remember a little film from the early "80's entitled "Death of a Princess". Our good friends the Saudis made such a fuss at the time that it was not broadcast on PBS. I believe the Dutch were the only Western country with the guts to tell them to go **** themselves and aired the program.
I, myself, happened to be in the Eastern Province when some hapless soul was beheaded for witchcraft...not a word from the State Department , nor-as I recall-from the Jewish controlled US press.
Yes...Arabs and other Muslims may be discriminated against in America...but the "Thobed Ones" are not among them.

freesoul, the above video is a Hollywood film made by ABC news, directed by Uncle Sam, and executed by the Sheikh!

In UAE, the Sheikh tortures his enemies using 'Sandboarding', in America, Uncle Sam tortures his enemies using Waterboarding!

Dear 007,
Well, you have to give the Sheikh credit for making use of the materials at hand - no water available so he improvised.
Regards,
John

Not sure what your examples have to do with any of this, but I will assume that you have never lived in the US or dealt much with the media here... or are aware of how things function... or not...

Oh Perspicacious One!

My point is...that we the People of the United States, the media, the government, the noble association of EFL teachers etc...kowtow to these petty, brutal little autocrats in the Gulf.
We look the other way when they enslave people, we look the other way when they torture their slaves to death.
Now, under Obama, there is a glimmer of a chance that someone might stand up to them.
That was my point.
By the way, I live in West Hollywood...I have something of an idea about the way the press/media work in the US.

I was just announced on Fox News that the nuclear power plant project where the U.S. will sell this commercial technology to the U.A.E. has been put on hold while the incident is investigated. Jesus may have screwed the pooch on this one! Boy, I'd like to be a fly on the wall when Khalifa is asking little bro to 'splain his self!

But then again, I heard on Fox News...

I heard this briefly reported on a local radio station during a news update--103-something FM. The two parties involved were refered to as "An Afghani national" and the "Perpetrator" and that although it had been amicably resolved, it was still under investigation.

Sorry.
I've just reread my earlier post. The word Jewish should have been placed in quotations. I was trying to make an ironic point. It didn't work.
I am truly sorry.
