Hello all!

My husband and I have an interesting situation regarding our taxes. We are both Canadian citizens and we're both moving to Japan this year. I am going to be a full-time teacher at an international school and my husband will continue to work at his Canadian workplace, remotely. I will be getting a work visa and he will be getting a dependent visa.

We spoke with the Japanese embassy, but they directed us to a tax specialist. The specialist is charging an obscene amount of money to speak with us. Therefore, we want to ask questions here Smile

1) Is it possible for me to stop paying Canadian taxes and just pay Japanese taxes?
2) Is it possible for my husband, as a dependent, to only pay Canadian taxes (as he will continue to get paid by his Canadian company)?
3) Can anyone who has been through this process before give us a few tips/advice?

Thank you very much for your time!
