The emirate is dry
You can't buy pork
The traffic is horrific at best

If you do a quick search on this forum you will find several threads with info - then you can fine tune your questions.

Hope that helps

There are two positive aspects to living in Sharjah: 1. it borders Dubai and 2. it has its own airport (where the arrival duty free shop features a selection of wines and liquors!) with a budget airline (Air Arabia) Laughing
There are sections of the emirate that are very pretty, like university city and the corniche. Other than that... it is a permanent construction site in a dust bowl. Yuck!

And if you live out near the airport, areas of Dubai like Festival City, Mirdiff, are closer than Shajrah town itself. Pork is easliy accessbile in Dubai in one direction, and booze in Umm al Qawain in the other. Now if that's not being strategically placed, what is?

Avoid the National Paints r/a.
Sharjah has a private club/pub.
Ajman Kempenski hotel is nice, and set on the border between Ajman and Sharjah.
Do not use the Royal Hospital.
