Not a day goes by that I don't see a wedding or a funeral here. The weddings last about half a day but funerals can go for a week.

Your typical funeral begins with horns and drums blasting at 5am. Is this to scare off the evil spirits or something ?

I cannot tell you how many times I have woken up to drums and horns before sunrise.

Then on Trang Dung Hao in District 1 a few months ago I saw this really cool funeral in front of an apartment building complete with music and transvestites dancing in short red mini skirts and sporting beautiful long hair Rolling Eyes
My viet g/f was laughing, and even she admitted this was something she had not seen before.

A big crowd gathered in the street laughing and singing. It was the oddest funeral i have ever seen....but funny.

The dancing girls..errr guys were actually very sexy and humerous.
This was pure party fun with lots of drinking singing and entertainment.
