I know this may not directly job-related but since there is no suitable sub forum for my matter and since people here seem to have lots of good advice and experience, I thought I post this here:

I am planning to continue my study (English for Education) in China, that is Beijing if possible. Does anyone know if entrance to university requires Chinese Proficiency testing? My major is English and I am more than half way through, so I need only 1-2 semesters to wrap it up but surely I don't want to go back to my homecountry. Did anyone hear of similar cases? Whats the average semester fee for studying in BA module?

What else should I consider? I have all my certificates and credit points from my home-country with me to present at the Chinese university.

One friend of mine in Beijing confirmed to me that this HSK test is not required for foreign English students. Anyone else heard of this, too ?

Thanks for any information.

What is your logic for coming to China to major in English ?

Where are you from ? Your writing suggests that you are not a native English speaker (or just lazy writing) - in my opinion.

You should research each individual university for their required tuition, fees, and requirements, since it would vary.

What is your logic in answering a person's questions with more questions?

Where are you from ? Your writing suggests that you are not a polite English speaker (or just a troublemaker) - in my opinion.

You should research what helpful people tend to do on forums vs. what flamers tend to do and see which catagory you most likely fall under.

..and to answer the OP:

Yes it is possible, and yes it has been done before. I don't know the particulars, but I have met some people both on-line and in Beijing that studied or were in the process of studying English as a major who were not Chinese.

As for any Chinese language testing, I suspect that they are more interested in your English ability.

Good luck.

1 - Luckily, I don't give a damn what you really think about my writing.

2 - And it's flamers and instigators that attack an individual (Need a mirror?) and not the issue. My post was clearly attacking the issue the writer raised and his/her poor English made me question if he/she is a native English speaker.

3 - If you disagree with me, then see point 1 above.

But you seem to care about Yaki's writing. Don't start insulting people on these forums and then expect to walk away with clean hands, mate.

Might be better to stay clear of "attacking" people. People don't come here to get "attacked". They come for insight, information, and maybe a bit of help.

Country and language of origin is completely relevant.

Coming to China to study English is completely relevant.

Nobody can deny that the quality of the post suggests that this is not a native English speaker - completely relevant.

Thus, a non-native English speaker coming to China to study English is completely relevant.

To summarize - it's completely relevant.

The quality, grammar, word choice, and spelling in my post is hardly suspect.

Thus you chose to find something about me to complain about.

If you have the much problem with me, then leave it out of the OP's thread and contact me directly. You making two posts - one about me, and another about the thread is evidence enough you're seeking out (e.g., trolling).

If you addressed and/or attacked the messenger rather than the message in this thread causing it to derail and be locked, you may assume you are now very much on the Mod Team's radar and have just received a very final warning for your behaviour.
