I have a large collection of DVDs, mostly copies of old films, I'd like to take with me to KSA. None are objectionable in any way. Will I have a problem? Just how many can I take with me, if any?

I do not believe there is a limit but you might have to spend hours in your immgration clearance. I had 3 DVD's and it took them 5 minutes to inspect but the whole process took about an hour (waiting for the return of your DVD and passport).

Best of luck to you

yes if you want to wait up until no time limit, based on who wants to go slow just to be slow or even to irk you good, bring them. As long as you dont mind possibly waiting, .......

I know somebody who just three weeks ago brought in 350 hours of home-recorded programming on 45 DVDs, carried in two of those small CD purses, in his luggage. Nobody checked anything.

Dear Sheik,
And that's the problem - some Customs people will just wave you through and not check anything while others will make your life hell.
And you never know whom you're going to get.
Regards,
John

I've heard the same. Hit or miss. I wonder about the mail system for said items, since the delay, if any, wouldn't really matter.

Since DVDs are small, light and unobtrusive, I suggest you carry them in your luggage rather than have them sent to you by post.

In several years coming and going from Riyadh airport, I have never once had my bags inspected, or even opened. They just pass them through an xray machine and unless they see something really dodgy (like bottle of vodka?) they are unlikely to open them. That said, you could of course be unlikely and have all of your bagge subjected to a thorough going-over. this would be unlikely, but possible.

On the other hand, if you send a large consignment of DVDs by mail, they almost certainly will receive at least a cursory inspection, and you might well find that some or all of your collection goes missing somewhere along the way.
