So places like Osaka are somewhat absent of U.S. military bases? or are they around there as well?
Sounds like Okinawa and Tokyo/Yokohama is the center of them.. |

Nothing in Kansai/Osaka (no room for airstrips or for barracks)
I think there is another one at Misaki Air Force base, iwakuni, Camp Zama in Yokohama, Hiroshima and Okinawa. |

Most of the Bases are in Okinawa. About 14 I believe. There are a few on mainland but none in Kansai. Camp Zama in Zama City and Sagamihara city. Atsugi base is in Sagamino city, Yokosuka in Yoksuka city, and Yokota in Fussa, which is Tokyo prefecture I beleive. So the majority are in Kanagawa. Misawa Air Base, Sasebo, and Iwakuni are also on mainland. There is also the remote Camp Fuji in Gotemba city, but only men are stationed there. If I knew why you were asking about bases, I could maybe help you more. But here's a link to a page that may be helpful: http://usfj.mil/pacific_bases.html |

I live in Okinawa and the bases here are a fucking nightmare. Every Friday and Saturday night, I make my way home from work through hordes of drunken marines hassling schoolgirls in the street. Okinawan people are noticeably more relaxed and friendly when you tell them you are not military.
I have met a few decent military people and seen, and met, a LOT more wankers. |
