Hi all. Does anyone know when the university/HR get in touch with the succesful candidates regarding contracts (Assistant Professors)? Are contracts signed before the summer break or on the first week before employement? |

Most contracts in the Gulf (if not all) are signed after you arrive and pass the medical checks. That way they can be registered at the Mof Labour. Usually you are sent a letter of offer for signature before you arrive, once you pass the security check. |

Another question if i may. When will they tell me which modules i will be teaching? Will i have time to prepare over summer for example or would it be decided in the induction week? Do they give lecture notes which is passed on from previous years or am i expected to make my own? |

Typically, I doubt that you would know in advance which modules you will be teaching in the fall. I would also not expect too much help in the form of lecture notes...
I taught core courses in the Humanities College at UAEU and I remember being given a skeleton syllabus and a rather hefty set of "class materials" that turned out to be totally unusable (way above the students' heads.)
Of course, it all depends on the department in which you will be teaching and perhaps you should ask them these questions. Do you have a contact name there? If so, why not send an email to find out?
