Over at:
http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=70976&start=15
Kowlooner makes thoroughly objectionable comments regarding a chap I know who had his application for a hawker licence refused on the grounds that he was "not Chinese".
In addition to being thoroughly objectionable and downright obnoxious he is are also grossly ill-informed. The government recently informed the general public that they were to issue some 61 new hawker licences, the first since 1993, for which prospective hawkers had to apply in writing. No fewer than 3,506 applications were made for those 61 licences. The chap to whom I referred in the other thread was one of the 3,506. You can read all about it in the SCMP, 15.05.09, p.C1, '3,500 apply for 61 new hawker licences'.
There was no field day as Kowlooner claimed there 'would' be.
Dear, oh dear, oh dear. It must get somewhat embarrassing (and tiring, not to mention frustrating) for Kowloony always being wrong even when as in his case he must be used to it. |

More of Bogey's BS degree. Already established his pathological tendencies (see: http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=71779&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=30)
From the FEHD:
Quote: |
The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) announced that it will receive applications for Itinerant Hawker Licences (Frozen Confectionery) [IHL(FC)] from April 24 to May 14.
The Government reviewed the hawker licensing policy last year and proposed to issue a fixed number of new IHL(FC)s, provided that food safety and environmental hygiene would not be compromised. After consultation with relevant parties, the Government has decided to issue 61 new IHL(FC)s, thus increasing the total number of such licences from the existing 27 to 88
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
* aged 18 or above;
* with Hong Kong permanent resident status;
* currently not holding any valid hawker licence;
* has not entered into any market stall tenancy agreement with the FEHD that remains in force;
* has not participated in the Voluntary Surrender Schemes for Fixed-Pitch (Cooked Food or Light Refreshment) Hawker Licences or Itinerant Hawker Licences; and
* none of his / her parents, spouse or children currently holds any valid hawker licence. |
Bogey's post was on April 27, just 3 days after the application period began. http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=70976&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
Just a coincidence?
Moreover, the FEHD said:
Quote: |
Should the applications received exceed the total number of licences intended to be issued, FEHD will inform eligible applicants in writing to participate in a computer ballot on 12.6.2009.
Applicants who fail to use the prescribed form, submit late or repeated applications or provide incomplete or inaccurate information will be disqualified. |
The winners haven't even been informed yet. Once again, more baloney from Bogey. |

Well, quite obviously, being denied a licence on account of not being "Chinese" did not make my friend a winner, and losers, i.e., those who were not eligible, have been informed. |
