Hey, I'm a high school English teacher currently working in South Korea. I'm writing because I want to check out Nam compared to Korea! I need some advice from someone on the ground in 'Nam. I have 4 weeks holiday in the summer and I want to tour Vietnam on a bike- Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi in one month.
I've been researching this trip and it looks like I'll have to buy a bike instead of renting one. So I need to know:-
-How good a rider will I have to be do this trip. How difficult is it?
-Would I be better getting on a tour or doing it alone?
-How much is it to put my bike into freight on a train?
-I don't have a great deal of experience on bikes. I passed a CBR test in the UK and used to own a 125cc scooter. I could do with a refresher. Are training courses available in the cities?
-What is highway 14 like? What parts of this trip are tough going? I'm worried about riding in the cities so will pobably put my bike on the train but I want to avoid this as much as possible.

Thanks guys.
