They are offering me a job but they want me to be there by the 25th. I am in Europe, is that even feasible with visa processing/flight booking/etc?
When asked about the visa they said I should come on a visitor's. I then requested a non-B and they said OK and sent all the paperwork required within 2 minutes. Possible?
Are these things normal?
Should I run like hell? |

| I am not an expert here nor do I know anything about the company, but school for us started on the 9th. They might be teaching their students advanced basket weaving because they have no teacher. If I were in this position I would be desperate too. This puts you in control in negociating for salary, etc. I would still check out the company. |

I did, it's Teach-to-Travel.
I don't think I am in a position to negotiate. They don't really seem like they want me all that much.
It's take it or leave it. They said they don't want me if I cant go by the 25th. |

Sorry, I missed the title the second time I looked at it. I am working on an HP mini and a lot gets chopped off.
It sounds like they need someone ASAP. Wait for Tom to post, but you should be OK on a tourist visa for now. |

| It sounds as though they are desperate. Term is just starting and I know that at some schools, "contracted" teachers have not turned up. What you say seems possible if they are desperate. |

They are probably short a teacher or 2 for contracts that they are obligated to fill.
Getting a "B" visa takes about 4 days (plus shipping time for the documents).
Arriving on a tourist visa/stamp and changing your status is not unheard of and is do-able PROVIDED you have more than 21 days left remaining on your allowed stay.
Do be aware that it is illegal to work on a tourist visa/stamp. If you are caught (not common but does happen) you will be jailed and deported.
Also be aware that if you do not hold a degree they will NOT change your status or get you a work permit.

They have a website, but it doesn't come up on a search. I found only one review of the company on ESLogue and it read like something someone posted by request without actually knowing anything about them.
They could just be a new school, but something seems fishy to me. They also list themselves as Paragon Language School, but there is no info about that one on the internet either.
I think they post on LinkedIn. There seems to be a lot of trawling for resumes on there lately. |
