|
|
Hello
My local training centre said that I can get a CELTA course funded for me free to do and hopefully pass BUT ONLY if I can get someone to guarantee me a job at the end of it.
My catch22 dliemma so can anyone do this or guide me where to get someone?
I would probably need a letter via email or proper posted letter.
P.S I do not have a degree but somebody told me you can get jobs in China with just a CELTA.
Thanks so much for any help.
Bit urgent |

Without a degree you could still find a job, but you might need the TEFL/Celta training under your belt to get the job offer in the first place.
Without a degree and without any TEFL training, I don't think you'll have a good chance of getting a legitimate job offer, at least in the near future. And it seems that you need the offer urgently to get the training underway.
You might be able to cook up a job offer somehow. You should really find out what evidence of the job offer your local training centre requires before you proceed further. |

Are you Vietnamese ? I don't want to assume that the "alien" part of your name means you are alien to Vietnam. If you are Vietnamese it could pose problems for getting a job. There are many threads about difficulties for Non-White folks getting jobs. Just adding that based on your nickname here. Something to think about if you are.

vietnamalien, I don't mean to sound rude, but why would a school want to employ you, let alone guarantee you a position in the future based on your possibly getting a CELTA (while having no degree and no/an indeterminate amount of teaching experience) ??
You really are asking/expecting(?) a lot of employers who don't even give qualified and experienced teachers their dues.
I understand that you needed to ask - on the off chance - but it's not surprising that it hasn't worked. |

IT's all about HELPING people helping people trapped in a rut in a country they hate.
Trapped with no jobs whatsoever around.
Does not matter if they can find me a job at the end all I need is a guarantor saying yes heres our details so I can get the funding I cannot afford.

I take it that you have never been to China before.....
Seriously, can you give us some more info? It really sounds like some type of scam. Do you have to pay some money upfront ?
I have never heard of anything like this before. It is all very possible, of course, but some more details would allow us to better help you. |

vietnamalien, even without a CELTA, degree or teaching experience, you can get a teaching job somewhere in China; it just depends on how you present yourself and what you're willing to accept.
I'd say that with no relevant qualifications or experience you'll have a better chance where there are fewer foreigners. So rural areas, not necessarily villages, but smaller cities and towns (but still huge by Western standards). In this type of place there's a better chance employers will demand fewer or no formal qualifications of you. Basically if you have a foreign passport, show you're eager and willing to work there (without the company/support/being surrounded by loads of foreigners and without access to a more Western type of lifestyle) schools may welcome you with open arms and treat you like a celebrity. You may get treated more fairly and actually feel that you are wanted and respected - unlike how many FTs feel in larger, more Westernized urban areas. You may actually make a huge and lasting difference to the lives of people there.
If you do decided to go to a more rural area, go with your eyes open - do plenty of research. The fewer the unpleasant surprises, the more likely your time there will be a rewarding one.
Good luck. |

I would rather have the qualification so I have some security.
When I DO get to leave UK again I dont want to EVER go through the same feelings and sink into deep depression as when I returned from Thailand after living there months in 2007. |

With all due "respect" my British chap, why don't you get off your lazy ass and actually apply to schools in China as opposed to asking people on this forum to "find" you a job?
Peace |
