In early January I was directed by the English Language Centre's Recruitment Coordinator to appear for an interview.

I attended the interview and the Director assured me of his recommendation for a position.

In late February I received a 2-page formal employment offer from the Personnel Coordinator -- an office entire distinct from the ELC. The document was duly accepted and a signed copy was faxed to Personnel on 1 March. A week later I emailed a copy of my passport and another week passed for me to receive an email from the ELC Welcome Committee.

Lo, these five months later: more than two dozen emails and a multitude of phone calls to the ELC Recruitment Coordinator and Director have seemingly been for naught -- other than my choice of a) Personnel claims that they never received your signed and faxed offer of employment, b) "There are problems with other applications as well" c) contact the Personnel office.

Alas, the Personnel Coordinator responds to neither my emails nor does the he ever answer the phone except for a single lucky call during which I was curtly advised that visas are no longer available for English teachers.

Have available visas been sold to agents (like the infamous M-Trading)?

The admin of the English Language Centre assumes no further responsibility beyond the interview and recommendation stage. Nor does it follow up its own employment recommendations with the Personnel Coordinator.

Clearly, the right hand knows nothing and cares little of what the left hand is doing.

And now that you have criticised them on a public forum, your chances of ever getting there are VERY slim !

Looks like your fax may have got lost.

When you are talking about Personnel are you talking about Personnel at JIC or at the Royal Commission?

"Personnel Coordinator" refers to an official within the Human Resources office within the administration building on the Jubail Industrial College campus itself, not to an official in some faroff office of the Royal Commission.

Need I mention names?

All they can do is forward the paperwork to the RC for processing. If they've lost the paper then your application has disappeared.

The Royal Commission is hardly far off; it's next door, a five-minute walk away, and where you go for lunch because the cafeteria's excellent.

No.
