I've been going all over Beijing doing interviews for the past 5 days, and most schools want me to do a demo. They don't even tell me what they want, just "prepare a 15 minute demo for 4 year olds" or "now (spur of the moment) give the student a demo class". I'm not really sure what to do. I have to do a demo for young kids and a demo for teenagers tomorrow for ABC English.

Can someone give me some advice? Should I buy some English books?

Oh, and they were asking me to take a full time job (25 hours) for 8-9k a month, but I think I can make more going to a few different schools. Any thoughts?

Do you have enough time left on your visa to hang around looking for more jobs?

Assess their speaking skills. "How old are you?" "Hello, my name is km618; what's your name?" "What day is today?" "Let's say the English alphabet! a, b, c,...."

for the young kids, just buy some stickers an plastic fruit, do 'it's a/an...' and 'what's this?' give them stickers and a high five!
For teenagers just do a self introduction. you can write some prompts on the board like food, family, travel, job etc if you get no bites..
good luck!

I would ask the kids name, age favourite food.. something like that...

then draw the alphabet on the board prompting the kids to say what comes next.. and ask for things that begin with those letters.. make it food related or summat.. like a- apple etc etc.. always gets a laugh cos some funny so and so will say summat that gets everyone chuckling. Good luck!
