Can't see anything on Dave's about Lifen since 2007.
Anyone with current information on jobs/living conditions/pollution level?

Do you mean "Linfen?"

If so, its recent history as one of the most polluted places on the planet are enough to keep me away.

Yes LiNfen - thanks for pointing that out Cleric.
The material on Wikipedia and elsewhere seems to be from before Olympics and my thought was perhaps things had improved post the games.
However Linfen seems to suffer from infrastruture pollution ie steel and coke production rather than it being car-related.
Be interesting to see what others have to say.

It has been listed many times as THE most polluted city in the world.

For some video of just how bad it is check this out:

Those videos are incredible. They have added credibility in that there are Chinese people actually commenting on the grim situation in Linfen.

The same people that produced those Linfen videos also did a good 14 part series on North Korea.

Looks like a good place to open an army surplus shop, specializing in gas masks.

Poster named "number1english" location as Linfen, as I saw in a thread I started about Taiyuan (same province). I work with quite a few people from there as that is where our company's head office is.
