Does anyone know anything about Footprints Recruiting? Are they credible? Generally are any recruiters credible? They are based out of Toronto Canada. I can not really find much information regarding their company besides of course the information on their company website.

Of course, they can(and do) lie sometimes, too,so be careful.A good idea is to ask for names of former teachers, addresses, etc. That way you can contact them and maybe get the real, unvarnished info on the school. Also, check out the job journal forum on Dave's under specific countries which interest you.Good luck.Be careful. Credible recruiter? That's a clear oxymoron. Stear well clear of ANYTHING from Canada; nothing good will ever come from there.

Beware of fellow Canadians (foreigners) as well as native recruiters. I knew a well meaning Canadian who was going to work for a school that also wanted to get into recruiting. Her job would be to recruit fellow Candians, and help them adapt/prepare for life in Canada.

I asked her if she had ever visited any /all of the schools this school/recruiter was ging to send her fellow Canadians to. The answer was negative. So how can she give assurances about how these other schools will treat her fellow Canadians?

I would stay away from all recruiters as a rule, but especially if they do not give you the contact person of the school you will be going to. The recruiter is not going to be responsible for what happens between you and the school. The recruiter is not going to pay you. The recruiter is not going to be responsible for "misunderstandings".

You should never pay money to a recruiter. They get paid by the school. And you must always contact the school personally, talk to them, sign their contract, and ask to talk to the present foreign teachers.

Is this something like selling ice to eskimos? Do Canadians need help adapting/ preparing for life in Canada?

Dear Ben,
You certainly sound like a good guy and this thread WAS started by Cyna, who asked specifically about your outfit.
I have to wonder, though, whether your posting might not violate this rule:

"Please note that advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are inappropriate in ESL Cafe's Job Discussion Forum."

However, that, I suppose, is up to the moderators.

Regards,
John

Hi Cyna,

We are based in Vancover, not Toronto. We would be happy to put you in touch with teachers at schools we work with before you sign a contract. I don't want this to sound like an advertisement, so if you want more information on our company, e-mail me directly.

P.S.- There are credible recruiters out there.

I've just been contacted by them, also. They said they have a file and whatnot on me and they wanted to ask me a load of questions I would of answered in my initial application, if I placed it!

But the catch is, I never applied with them...

Strange...
