Could anyone in the real know please tell me the names of some Australian/British recognized universities offering masters in TESOL/TEFL charging the MINIMUM fees and also how much and offering some transfer credit as I have been told that I could get transfer on the basis of my qualifications (B.A. in English; one-year TEFL Diploma; one-year B.Ed. and several years of TEFL experience in Pakistan which are, in my opinion, internationally more than a bachelors and less than a masters, as I have been told by some)! And then I could contact the universities directly in order to have my qualifications formally assessed. Upon asking the same, if I could get some transfer credit, in the Teachers' Discussion Forum, I was replied to positively by a Canadian, Joe, who wrote to me thus,

"I would say that your best bet is to look through Australian universities and look for programs that have transfer credit available. You can get up to half of a full MA in transfer at some of the universities".
I am not a native English speaker.
How much credit can possibly be transferred on the basis of my qualifications given above?

Best regards,
Haseeb

Where UK courses are concerned you would be considered to be an overseas student therefore the fees are steep. Around 10000 a year i think.

As for credits for your qualifications and experience - what you are describing is no more than the entry requirements to a decent MA programme, so in the UK you could not expect transfer credit.

I am from the US and got mine at the University of Canberra, the weaker cousin of Australian National University. It cost me 11,000 AUD and took me one year because my undergrad is in English Ed and ESL. It got me a job in Japan where I am working now. I did my time but have also supervised folks who graduated from more prestigious schools from around the world and will be moving to the UAE to keep going.

Griffith University in Australia (Queensland) is one of the better priced universities, and has a good reputation. Not sure about transferring credits, though.

Sheffield Hallam University in the UK is worth a look.

You wouldn't get any credits.
