Hi all,

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me when language schools in Barcelona usually begin their academic year? Is it September or October? (I'm trying to decide whether to do my CELTA in July or August, bearing in mind I want to be around during interview time).

Most begin first week of October. I'd recommend doing the course August, and then immediately start looking for work.

Note that you might not in fact get a contract until late September, and not get your hands on your first salary until the end of October -- so come with sufficient cash to tide you over until then...

Definitely agree with SirKirby there. It's amazing how late people started recruiting here last year, which may well have been a sign of uncertainty about clients training budgets after the crisis, and many people didn't start working until mid-October, which is very painful as many regular classes here stop in San Juan in late June, and there a lot less work around in July.

Like the man says, take as a much cash as possible and be prepared to make your credit card suffer.
