I'm getting ready to go to Queretaro in a month or so and was wanting to get anybody's opinion on the best sequence i should get things done.

I already have a contact (a friend of a friend) who lives in Queretaro and he has already offered me a place to stay while i look for housing. As I don't want to overstay my welcome in his home, I want to try and get a place as soon as possible...but i have my doubts about when i should do this in the midst of still needing to look for a job and apply for the FM3.

so what's the sequence of getting all these things done?

Do i find the job first and then look for housing nearby and THEN go apply for FM3 (because don't you need a place of residence in order to apply?) ?
now i realize i could probably find somewhere to live and then look for a job, but i wanted to try to minimize travel time from home to work...

yes get the job first. having the job will tell you how much money you can afford for rent. then find a place based on distance by bus ride or walking.

if a place will take care of getting you your FM3, that's even better.

I've been also doing some thinking about private classes. As I'm leaning towards teaching adults (I've read about the horrors of teaching for the younger crowds), I intend to look for work at a language institute and am under the impression that I'll probably just receive part time.

Considering that I am wanting to work at a school, but also do private lessons, what is suggested as being the best type of visa to apply for?

Should I just apply for an independent FM3, which will allow me to work any way I desire? (but I've read on this forum that some schools won't hire if you have an independent visa...)

OR

Should I allow the school to sponsor me for the work visa and then later change it to an independent FM3?


and what about the hassle with taxes? ...I'm a recent college grad and am going to Mexico as a break and time to figure out my future goals and wants. I plan to be there for a year. Should I just learn to survive on part time pay for the year or muster up the courage to deal with taxes and all that comes with it?

Malane, this may be a non-issue depending on your qualifications, which you haven't mentioned here. FM3's are not easily attainable unless you have the requisite degree or certification.
