Lets talk about chifas - the good the bad and the terrible - which is your favourite chifa and your favourite dish - I haven't been in Peru for awhile so any information concerning new places and prices would be much appreciated! Cheers!

I'm, not too fond of chifa. It's not real Chinese food. But, the majority of them are decent and cheap. Where are you, I mean, what district? Go to a big one that has lots of people, that's guranteed to be good.

When I left in March 2008, a chaufa could be got in Lima for as low as 3/s, but you'd have had to dig hard...the standard, at least for the places I frequented, was 4/s-5.50/s...my 3 favorite chifas in Lima, and I've probably tried two dozen, though only 2-3x where Chaufa con Pollo was more than 6/s:

in LINCE-- on Avenida Petit Thouars, somewhere around Ave. Risso. Great hole in the wall place

in EL CENTRO-- on La Colmena, right off of Plaza San Martin ..very diverse clientele here, open late

in EL CENTRO--on Ave. Andahualyas a few blocks north of the Mercado Central, in the heart of the Barrio Chino
