As per the subject: can I get a Z visa in HK?
If I come in to China on a L or F visa, find my job, sign the contract and have all the paperwork in hand, can I nip down to HK and get a Z visa?
It would costly, time-wasting, and jetlag-inducing if I had to fly to SA to get the Z visa.
The reason I don't do the Z visa here in SA before I leave is due to past experience - my last school was a cesspit. So I'd rather do a physical inspection of the schools before I sign on the dotted line..

I was told today that I would have to return home to NZ to get a work visa if hired by a certain company (I'm on an L). They said the rules are constantly changing and its a hassle for them and the local govt is enforcing the law more at the moment. Most likely because of the Asia games next year. I'm in Guangzhou if that helps.
The company was upfront about it which was good. |
