The county is a big place, and has a lot of variety. You're going to have to be more specific as to where in the county ....

| I only know the schools are in Taipei county - haven't been told anything more than that. I quess they are somewhere outside the actual city limits of Taipei. |

The reason why people are asking for more detail is because Taipei County is basically a giant ring around Taipei City. You can literally spend a couple of hours on a bus going from one side of the county to the other.
Some parts of the county are connected to the MRT while some are not. Some parts basically feel like the city, and some don't. Without specific locations it is impossible to give you quality estimates. |

The other guys are right; we'd need a more specific location before we could provide really useful info to your question.
Very generally: the costs of renting apartments are much cheaper in Taipei county that Taipei city. If you're working in Taipei county, this is great, and you can look for a cheaper apartment in that area.
The other point made by timmyjames is an important one, i.e. how close you would be to an MRT stop. The MRT essentially gives you access to a wide area of Taipei in a very cheap and convenient way. I lived both in Taipei county and city. The county is cheaper but can be boring as bejasus. So convenient access to the city is a great advantage. Otherwise you're relying on taxi's which are relatively expensive.
