Hi All,
I taught in Vietnam for ~ one year in 2005-2006. The reason why I left the country is because they were cracking down on the work permits and I could not complete the requirements. I am currently residing in Cambodia, but looking to return to VN.
The problem I have is two-fold. Firstly, due to the fact that my student loans are in default I am unable to get a copy of my B.A. degree transcript from my university. However, I do have a letter from the university which is proof that I have the degree. The only way to clear this situation up is to go through a lengthy loophole bankruptsy procedure to eliminate the default.
For now I only have a tangible A.A. degree.
Secondly, I am also concerned about the criminal background check situation. When I returned to the U.S. I went to the county records office and got a California state background check (which I have on me now). Will this be adequate?
Finally, if I cannot fulfill the requirements for the work permit (based on the info described above) will it be possible to find work off-record at this time. I am not really even looking for a full-time gig.
A buddy who just returned to Cambodia from Vietnam informed me that he was able to work without work permit (P/T) for over a year. He also explained that they loosened the requirements due to the fact that a lot of potential teachers left because of the difficulties getting the work permit when I was there.
Thanks in advance. |
