Hi everyone, I have a question regarding everyone's experience with F visas. My story is this: I signed a contract with a university in Beijing, and everything seemed to be going well. Recently, however, when I emailed the school to see if they had gotten my Z visa application form, they told me Beijing had temporarily stopped issuing Z visas to foreigners.

I told this to someone I know in Beijing who has a company there and they said they would sponsor me on an F visa. Now I am wondering if I should give the F visa a go or just wait and see if Beijing decides to issue more Z visa applications.

Anyone have any advice?

Thanks, and good luck to everyone in working through this process.

Not always, some (mostly East Coast) cities allow short-term contract (6 months or less) teachers to legally work on an F visa. However, this F visa must be sponsored by the school, so an agent-issued F visa doesn't work. I would recommend you check with the local government in the district of Beijing that you will be working in.

Thanks for the responses guys. It does not look like I will have to deal with an F visa, as my employer just told me today that they got my Z visa application form. It is useful information though.
