Just got my new FEC today (renewal of FEC that expires on June 20) and the expiration date is December 31 of this year. The powers that be say that from now on expiration dates of FECs will be set at the end of the year rather than a year from issuance.
Shenma???????????????

Anyone else hearing of this?
Anyone else realize this may be a bit of a thraca if all the FECs expire on the same day?
Is my chain being yanked?
Is this a nefarious plot to get rid of all us laowais in one fell swoop?

Okay guys and gals, it's January 1.........Anybody who's not Chinese.........ON THE PLANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've never heard of it, and as long as my residence permit expires at the end of the contract, i'm not too worried about this potential change you mention.

I guess it makes sense in that they'll all expire at the same time. Might make processing them more streamlined in one way, although the people who process them will be very busy at year's end.

interesting

i've just got mine a few days ago..not sure when it expires (will check my FEC out and'll come back to tell), but whatever date it is my contract's till june 5th 2010. in case i sign another one-year contract, i'll have my FEC extended as well..or, should i apply for a new one as the old one expired Confused don't see a point in this at all as not so many contracts end on the end of december every year, do they?

cheers and beers to FECs that are just sooo helpful ON THE DAY WHEN WE APPLY FOR RPs Smile

Well I got my renewed RP and renewed FEC today.
Both expire at the end of July 2010 - just the same as my renewed contract.
And I asked my FAO if there were any problems coz of the H1N1 and he said no.

So (again) no problems for me renewing and wasn't asked to pay for the documents.

Am I lucky in this respect, or is this the norm and some FTs are unlucky?

I got my new FEC and RP today as well. My new contract officially expires June 30th, 2010. Both FEC and RP expire July 30th, 2010 so . . . . ??? And guess what - - my new FEC booklet has those pages in there that allows me to exchange money without having a tax receipt (it wasn't in my 2008-2009 one that is expiring in a few days). Go figure.
