I have been trying to track down the YL segment of CELTA training somewhere in Asia - besides Thailand. Does anyone know if it is offered in Hong Kong? Also, if my original TEFL training is not Cambridge can I take the young learner's class? |

I think the British Council HK still run a CELTA/YL extension course in the summer. So (as I think you know) the idea is to already have the CELTA. My friend was allowed to do it although he had previously done Trinity TESOL rather than Cambridge CELTA - at the end he only got a certified letter to say he'd done the work on the course, rather than a full pass certificate. |

The key word here is 'think'. As Wittgenstein said in his Philosophical Investigations, "...don't think, but look!" And, when one looks, on rapidly sees that there is no longer any mention of the CELTA YL extension on the BC of HK's website:
http://www.britishcouncil.org/hongkong.htm
This is hardly surprising given that they stopped offering the CELTA back in 2004. Also, it is not the case that the 'idea' is to already have a CELTA; rather, possession of a CELTA is a pre-requisite for the YL extension, that is why it is named the YL extension. |

Howdy TR/Bogey,
Here's some add-ons for the uneducated masses of pseudo-NETS like myself:

Well done - you can search the BC website, again proving how clever you are. I'm sure the OP couldn't have done that without your help.

Gosh, you're amazing with your control of vocab, again showing your extreme intelligence. Maybe you should teach English?
TR - if you just said 'here's the BC address', people might appreciate you more for your information. As it is, you just gibber on randomly digging at or insulting people where possible, and are just entertainment on this forum, nothing more. Why, why TR? I'm crying into my kilt at your potential to be something useful?
OP - I guess I stand corrected. But now you know the BC website from our esteemed poster TR, you could fire off an email to them for more info on if and when they might do it again. They did it last summer.
(maybe TR will let us know what that email is if he thinks you can't find it yourself) |

I think perhaps you might have been in HK too long; it's certainly getting to you. |

Perhaps you're right.
You're certainly getting to me wittering on about 'idea' and 'look' philosophy. |
