...does anyone know if small electrics (DVD, Alarm Clock, Phone Charger, etc.) will work in the UAE with a proper adapter?...particularly, I am reluctant to buy a DVD player and have to buy all new movies, rather than bring my own, unless I have to...bit of a movie nut, actually, but...thanks in advance!...said it before, this is a very informative and entertaining forum! Wink

Why would you carry all that with you except for the movies themselves? It's all so cheap and you're paying for baggage. It's also possible to download movies and write them to DVD here, did you realize that?

...hey, Zoot...thanks for the quick answer...maybe I have backwards thinking going on here, but I have SO many DVD's, and was thinking of bringing some of them and bringing/shipping a player over so I could play my own...the codes aren't right for buying there, unless I buy a player there...not the end of the world, but then I would have to buy DVDs there that would duplicate what I have, and not be useful back here...if any of that makes sense... Smile

...do you know if my player would work if I had the right adapter, or is the voltage wrong no matter what...

when you get here, ask where you buy the DVD player (I got mine at Jumbo) they can download the codes needed to play North American DVDs (if the DVD player isn't already able to do so) in about 5 minutes.
I order stuff from Amazon.com (North American DVDss - no problem on my JVC USD70 DVD player).
