My residence permit (on a Z-visa) is valid until February 2010, but due to personal circumstances, I was forced to change employers mid-contract. I negotiated with my school, got a release letter, and left on good terms. Now my old school is saying they will cancel my residence permit since I am no longer working for them. I don't know if they can do this over the computer since they never had a chance to cancel it physically in my passport.
It is now the middle of June, and my new job doesn't start until the end of August. My question is, will my new employer (in a different province) have any trouble issuing me a new residence permit? |

To answer your first question, yes it is possible for the PSB to cancel your RP without having your passport, though they would only do this under the most extreme circumstances ie. if you killed somebody. Your first school will have a difficult time trying to get this done and will probably ask for your passport.
Your second school should have no problems converting for you provided you have all the required paperwork. But try to get it done as early as possible otherwise you're going to have the headache of explaining to the PSB why you have been in the country for so long with an incorrect visa. 30 days sounds about right. |
