having just graduated college, i was originally planning to go to beijing around the middle of august to get a job teaching english. i've been applying to jobs here and there via eslcafe's job board, but heard that it's best to scope out the scene and find work once you arrive.
lately, though, i've been thinking of delaying my trip... either to early september or as late as january. my question is, how likely am i to find a good teaching job at either of those times? (i have no tesol training.) when is the best time(s) to look? when does the school year start and end? would it be a mistake not to go in august?
i'm also curious about the visa situation - would it be possible to arrive with a tourist visa and switch it later, or is that a big pain?
any input would be appreciated. thanks so much! |
