Anyone interviewed with Westgate lately? I'm curious about the young learners program, but it seems like everything I searched in the forums is about uni placements only.
Their ad says they want 1000+ hours teaching young learners. I have about 1000 hours of exp and a master's in TESOL, but my experience is not with young learners. I want to try for the young learners program so I can (hopefully) increase the likelihood of getting a job lined up for after. I figure if I have experience teaching kids and adults, I should be able to find SOMETHING decent for the new school year.
Would it be totally stupid of me to ask for this if I get an interview? I'm afraid if I ask about it, I might be screwing myself out of a possible uni placement.
Would having experience with kids and adults make me more marketable, or would it even make a difference if I already have a master's?
Any input is appreciated. Thanks! |

Erm...Surely it would depend on what job you are being interviewed for? If you went to an interview for the uni job and then ask if you can interview for a different position then it might be unsound interview strategy just as you wouldn't turn up for a teaching job and then ask if the janitor's position is open.
Why not contact them directly and ask how you go about applying for the young learner's position? |

HEy
I just told them my preference was university but am also open to teach young learners. The application process is the same for both programs so it shouldn't be an issue. |
