Hey, all -
I got myself all sorted for picking up my visa in KL - I am doing the Labuan<->KL roundtrip this week, Wed to Sat.
My only concern now is if I should go to Labuan tomorrow/Tuesday & spend the night, or if it is reasonable/possible on Wed morn to just take the ferry over to Labuan, then go straight up to the airport in enough time to catch the connecting flight.
1st ferry is at 7:30; my flight on to KL is at 10:40, and since Labuan<->KL is considered domestic, I anticipate no hangups on that part of it.
I DO know it is 'safer' to go tomorrow; just wondering if anyone has done it the breakfast dash route?
Cheers!

ok, I have decided to play it safe & head to Labuan tomorrow. That means I will have time to suss out the transpo to the airport on Wed morn, and can have a decent breakfast before getting on the plane.
If anyone is familiar with any of these budget hotels (no point in something really nice for less than 18 hours), please chime in with your pluses or minuses.

I think when I breezed through before, I saw others, so if you know of one not from that site, clue me in!
Cheers!

Hi Glen,
Think you made the right decision- although you probably would have made it fine to the airport on the day, there can be a long queue to get through passport control in Labuan.
Sounds a good option to fly AirAsiafrom Labuan instead of Miri-no driving involved...
Hopeyou gotthe visa sorted in KL.

almost sorted. >.<
I was told it would take 2-3 days to process the med check & visa on the KL end of things. Which is technically true. Unfortunately, I was apparently there on the 'wrong' 2-3 days. So I will have to go back again some time in the next 2-3 weeks to finish.
(The Visa section only works in the mornings - not in the afternoons. The entire BHC is closed on Friday after 12 noon. And no Sat work, at all, ever.)
Functionally, it makes almost no difference - I will just be a 'Daily Rated Teacher' in the meantime, with a special dispensation courtesy of the MoE while everything is 'in process.'
While I obviously would have preferred to have had it all completed now, I don't mind so much going back to KL in the next couple of weeks for a few days.
Cheers! Best of luck to everyone on the upcoming 3rd term!

FYI:
There is only 1 flight between Labuan & KL (out at the LCCT) each day on AirAsia -
The departure from Labuan is at 10:40 am, which is not so bad. You can get from town to the Labuan airport in a mater of minutes, and check-in is a breeze, because it is a domestic flight.
But coming back is at 7:40 am, which means you are pretty much up around 4:30ish to get a taxi to get you to the bus to get you out to the LCCT in time to get checked in. That is soooooo not nice, and something someone may want to take into account.
