Anyone know what the starting salaries are for (recession hit) 2009 for :
Big Eikaiwa teachers
Small Eikaiwa teachers
ALTs
JETs ? |

The JET salary is the same as it ever was: 300,000 yen/month before deductions (health insurance payment, pension plan payment which can be reimbursed after JET).

The salaries are usually posted in the ads. There are some low paid jobs, still some higher ones (requiring contacts, as always), but the main thing is the number of part time jobs that are now around (paying very little per hour, and requiring you to be in-country, and often with some sort of TESOL certificate on top of your degree). |

Other than JET, salaries vary with location and employer.
Figure on 170,000 - 320,000. Yup, quite the spread. |
