i am getting ready to go to japan this august, I am working on my Japanese, as I know none now and have bought some books and cd's to help me. I want to get an electronic translator...any advice on which one to get..or not to get!

Translator or dictionary?
If you really mean translator, then don't bother. If you speak any other language than English, have a try with some online. They always spew out a load of gibberish. Just get a decent phrase book... much more reliable.
