Hi there! I'm going to be moving to Prague in mid-August and will be needing some temporary housing until I find a flat-share situation that I like and can afford. Someone mentioned to me that the colleges open up their dorms for travelers in the Summer. Of course, I know that hostels are an obvious option. Any suggestions? I'm looking for the best deal for my $$, but want to be safe and comfortable too (although I know that's a relative term). Thanks for any advice! |

There are student dorms atop Petrin Hill near the mini-eiffel tower. (Strahov Dromitory, Vanickova Ul.) There is a series of numbered communist era buildings each with dorms, a snack kiosk, and a pub. Some even have grungy dance clubs. It's about a 5 minute walk to Petrin Tower. Sorry, I don't know the current rates. |

Hi boncourage!
I recommend:
http://www.spolubydlici.cz
parrothead's recommendation is also a good option too.
In summer lots of schools in Prague are turned into hostels and most offer single or double rooms for reasonable prices.
Another such hostel is the Welcome Hostel close to Dejvicka metro station where prices can be negotiated if you are staying for an extended period of time:
Welcome Hostel
Zikova 702/13
16000 Praha, Czech Republic
224 320 202
224 322 834
This is very basic living and prices advertised on the internet for this hostel are usually higher than if you just turn up.
Hope it helps!
