|
|
I'm curious about what kind of criminal record check one needs to get to work in Saudi Arabia. I'd like to get an FBI check done to encompass the KSA, Korea, and other places that require this, but getting an FBI check is rumored to take several weeks, if not months.
Would a statewide check be enough for those from the USA going to work in the KSA? |

Thanks, Ceased. Do you know if one would need a check in any of the other Middle East countries? |

In the rest of the Gulf, they do the security check from their end. There have been instances of people who were told that they had failed the security check and a few that were informed literally moments before getting on the plane and the contract was withdrawn. These people never learned why. ...and were left with no job and no home for the near term. Presumably this shouldn't be a worry if you haven't got a criminal record or crossed any Gulf employers in the past.
I never worked in Saudi and never did anything related to this other than provide finger prints after arrival. (Kuwait, UAE, Oman) Perhaps those involved with jobs with the military in those countries may have a different process, but it hasn't been mentioned here.

In Saudi, to teach some of the classified subjects, I had to submit for a DISCO clearance (hold on, everybody...it stands for Defense Intelligence Security Clearance Office...or something along those lines). I think a few of the organizations that might still require that or something like it might be Raytheon and Booz Allen Hamilton.
Most others would only require a police certificate from their local police authority.

In Korea, the CRC is pretty specific. It must be a state or country wide check, notarized and apostilled if your country does that kind of thing.
Do you have anything written that might say what the requirements are?
This past year, I only needed a county wide CRC but it seems they just want something on paper. Seems it would be in your best interest to be more certain though. |
