google Guardian Weekly, and they have some nice little lesson plans on there. You may need to join up to see them, but thats only an email and password required. They then have lesson worksheets for both advanced and intermediate learners.

I have posted them here because they might be useful for new teachers, and for those of you about to embark on EFL courses and arent quite sure what teaching English can involve.

If thats you ... have a look at the lessons for lower intermediate classes. They have instructions for the teacher to follow, which will give you an idea for how teachers may set out activities and use material in classes. Of course, it isnt the same as actually being in class ... but for those of you very new to this and unsure ... they do provide a nice little framework showing you what to do.

Thanks for that Nick. I was aware of the Guardian weekly but didn't realise that it had so much teaching information.
However I couldn't find the lesson plans. I did try using the search function and having a general search around. Is there any chance you could post a link please?

Hello

Make sure its the Guardian Weekly site, not the regular daily newspaper one. On the homepage, on the left hand side, is a menu listing. Under the heading 'more content' is the sub-topic 'learning english'.

When you click this is takes you to the learning english articles, and shows another link near the top for 'view additional classroom materials'.

NB, you do need to be signed in to see these, if you arent signed in, it will instruct you to do so before you can view the lesson plans. Signing in/signing up is just a simple matter of email addy and password. I used two of the lower intermediate plans in my classes of German students last week, and both went quite well .... Ill be using them on my next group too. One of my fellow teachers used the advanced learners plan for a one-to-one student he has and rated them highly too.

Hope that helps ... due to the fact you need to sign in, I cant post a direct link. I do have some of them on my hard drive though ... so if you want me to send you one I can...it is really quick and painless to sign up to the website though!

If you would prefer I send one ... PM me an email address and Ill forward a couple of the plans I have downloaded.

Nick
