| Is there an age limit for teaching in Turkey? Or is there a preference for young teachers? I am thinking of going there to teach during my retirement (in about 8 years) and I was just wondering whether a 55 year old (with the right experience and qualifications) would have trouble finding work. |

No and no to your questions . I have a few friends teaching in Istanbul right now that are in their 50's. |

As Misstanbul said, there is no age limit or preference for younger teachers. In fact very young teachers probably have it worse as students tend to respect experience more.
55 is fine but for anyone else reading this post and thinking about it, the Ministry of Ed doesn't issue work permits to over-65s and its difficult to get private insurance too.
Good luck! |

This is good to know. I'm 57 and looking for a job, and it's next to impossible. I have experience--not leprosy for heaven sakes. |

| There is definitely no age limit. I'm sure your experience will be an asset. In fact, your age might be a bit of a filter as schools looking to pull a fast one on their teachers might think twice before trying any funny business with someone who has been around the block a few times. |
