Hi Guys ,
I am planning on going to Valencia To secure full time employment from september onwards.I have a few questions

1 Job oppunties will it be more difficult to secure work now with finacial crisis
how much should i expect per hour?
My Backround
I am an Eu Citizen
I have a BA in English and History
I am Tefl quailified
At the Moment I am working for an english school in buenos Aires when i arrive in spain i should have about three months expierence under my belt.

Is there much of a demand for Private classes ?

3 Accomadation
What is the average cost for a one bedroom apartment and could anyone reccomend any areas in the city. to live by the beacch seems nice but i have been hearing it can get a little dodgy at night

I know theres quite a mouthful here but if anyone has any info it would be great

I posted a while back that teaching in Valencia hasn't been hit by the crisis.

This has changed.

I've noticed a decline in teaching opportunities in schools, companies and private classes. I know many teachers who are struggling to make ends meet. my own teaching hours have reduced, but fortunately not critically.

I would imagine that the current slump will continue in 2009/10.

Thanks for the heads up el che.This global crisis seems to be affecting everywhere.Do you know any of the main schools that i could get in contact with to see if theres a possibility that they might be looking for staff in september.

Although many say teaching hasn't been affected by the crisis it has. Yes there is still demand but what I have noticed is that company classes that were well paid have declined. I suppose if a business wants to cut costs perks such as free English classes are out the window.

It could be debated that this created demand for private classes but your average working person doesn't have the means to pay the same as a business.

So in short yes there is work but from my experience less and what there is at a reduced rate to what is already a low paid sector.
