If you're seriously interested in getting paid for EVERY HOUR you work on your residential summer school this year, take a look here:
http://tefltradesman.blogspot.com/2009/06/how-to-double-your-money-at-summer.html
Seriously though, summer-schools have been ripping off teachers for decades, getting them to work extra hours either unpaid or underpaid.
Now it seems that, with the current minimum wage legislation, they can no longer do so - but it's up to each teacher to keep a record of all hours worked.
This should have a few dodgey owners of summer language schools worried - now they'll have to cough up the full rate! |

Working in Bath and have so many duties its ridiculous! Including night duty b4 my day off. But wonder in this financial climate if staying over anywhere not to mention travel costs i would want to. its for 3 weeks thank god. Will write more.
Know anymore about churchill?

I've never worked for CH, but I do know people who have, and according to teports they're not one of the best summer school employers. Make sure you log every hour you have worked and been on duty, and then do the maths. If you have a case against them, let them know, and I'm sure you'll be able to 'encourage' them to stump up a little more! |
