I am thinking about a change of pace and am considering trying Vietnam for a year. I am going to goto ILA to get celta trained and then looking for employment.
1. Does the school own your visa in Vietnam like Korea? I see many people mention working for 2 schools to make ends meet so I became curious.
2. It appears to be much more sketchy in terms of making good money. I've worked for 2 schools here in Korea and while I've had problems none of them were in terms of finances.
Well I guess thats it, if i'm and idiot and this has already been discussed in a previous post please let me know
Thanks for any help

This thread must remain focused on Vietnam, not Korea. Stories and questions about living and teaching in Korea must be posted on the Korean Job Forums where seperate registration is required.
While one may disagree with this or any other policy here, we expect all members to abide by our policies and Moderator decisions and actions. Also, we have never permitted discussions or comments regarding Moderator actions being posted on the public board. Offenders will be sanctioned.

Why do you think you need a CELTA certificate?
People are not cheated out of things in Korea? Or this is your personal experience, and you wonder how long your luck is going to hold out?
Are you prepared to work twice as hard for less than you now make in Korea? |

Oh, Sorry Mr Moderator I am new to this. I was just curious on how things go as I have heard from people here that the money is pretty decent in Vietnam.
I personally haven't had any problems where I currently am employed. I was just looking for a possible change.
The CELTA I am getting is because although I have a degree in English and I have learned Spanish I don't really have any training in the field of teaching. So I thought it would be a worth while job investment. Plus it opens a lot more doors.
I just saw people referring to working two jobs and this and that so I wondered what the VISA/ Money situation was? Im not a greedy man but I don't want to slum it.
When you said twice as hard for less? What do you mean? My job now isn't hard but I wouldn't say it's a piece of cake? With the Won as it is im not exactly rolling in the dough.
Any information again is greatly appreciated.
