Hi,
I am interested in teaching in Jakarta next year. I have the following credentials and was wondering what jobs are available to me.
I recently graduated from LSE in Bsc Sociology achieving a 2.2. Is a degree only useful to me in terms of getting a VISA or does the LSE name benefit me in any way during the recruitment process?
I am looking to begin my CELTA qualification at International House. Is this the best choice?
I have previously volunteered for a month an taught English to kids in Colombia and have one years experience teaching Microsoft Office to adults at a London college.
I am looking towards teaching English as a career and Indonesia seems like a good place to start. Which organisation is best in terms of organisation, salary and ease of recruitment considering my limited experience?
I also have a few other questions. I am a mixed heritage Muslim guy with big curly hair. Family is a combination of Iranian/Pakistani and Ugandan. Does being a Muslim affect my opportunities in any way either negatively or positively? and does being of mixed heritage affect me in any way?
I also have facial piercings and tattoos. The tattoos are easily covered and the piercings discreet. An English teacher at a summer school in Canterbury told me my piercings would not be an issue at their summer school as they were subtle but I was wondering whether it would be an issue in Jakarta. If it is I have no problem wearing retainers.
And as a final question for someone in Jakarta. Are there opportunities to take street dance classes there?
Sorry for such a long post but I have seen individuals get screwed at for being vague so I thought I would be as specific as possible.
