Hi I'm new when it comes to teaching English overseas. I am looking into several places to get certified because I want to have some form of preparation. I dont know if this has been posted already but I was wondering if anyone has heard of the private institution "Global Tesol College"? I dont know if this is a scam, or if it's internationally recognized since they claim you "learn" to teach overseas in 5 days.
Thanks. |

COuld you learn to do anything else difficult in 5 days?
Might not be internationally well thought of, then.
Best,

I'm familiar with Global - and it is below the standard minimum for most regions of the world.
The basic newbie cert in most areas is 100+ hours on site, including at least 6 hours of supervised teaching practice with real students (not other trainees).
CELTA is the name brand, but there are some generic courses that also fit the standard.
You might consider taking a course in the country where you want to start. The course providers are a good bridge into a country - they usually provide things like airport pickup, arrange for your housing during the course and can give you invaluable tips about reputable local employers as well. You can be sure your cert will be recognized where you want to teach, and your practice teaching students will really represent those people you'll be working with when you start. |
