You sure? Licensed? English? Teacher?
But I guess such writing would fly in Mississippi.
I am sorry for my post, but that post up there is just atrocious, inlcuding the title. And I really am concerned, about your students, especially if you teach young kids.
About your questions:
1) According to several people who have posted about it here, it is good.
2) http://www.isgdh.org
3) Sure, but not in the best schools (Western-managed) at this point in time. Arab-managed "international" schools are always looking, sometimes even days before the start of term. BTW, when is this for? If you are moving now, I doubt you can get a job now, in any school. But I am sure there will be some jobs in the 2nd term (Jan/Feb). If you are white-skinned, you could even get a job as a manager in a hotel or a hospital. Doesn't matter what you know or what you studied, the locals worship white people, and will lap them up. I personally know a couple of people, with no relevant education or experience, who were hired as managers in Saudi. One (female) in the Hilton, the other (male) for a Kuwaiti company that owns the franchises of several European apparel companies in the Gulf (Next, Guess, Mango, La Senza, Aldo, Marks & Spencer, etc).
For more information on PMU, search the Saudi board using the following terms: "PMU" and "Prince". |

Talk about a gratuitous attack. I mean was that entirely necessary? So what, she missed out an indefinite article, hardly warrants such hostility.

And, hmmm, shouldn't that be 'nor' rather than 'or'....I think the proverbial people in glass houses...is ironically appropriate here. |

The lack of an indefinite article in that sentence was the least of the [many] problems in the WHOLE post, as I indicated, but you clearly missed. If that's the only one you see, you are in the same boat. I quoted that particular sentence of hers to comment on her suitability as an English teacher. Surely, if she had said that she was a licensed science teacher, I wouldn't have said a thing. I think everyone should be concerned who is teaching their children. Do you have young children, Junaid? Aren't you concerned? It is extremely hard to undo anything you learn as a child. The situation is apparently so bad that we have a British academic calling for this:
http://www.reuters.com/article/oddlyEnoughNews/idUSKUA75572520080807
That bothers me, as it should everybody else.

If I am guilty of throwing stones while in a glass house, so are you, based on what I just quoted. If I shouldn't have done it, you shouldn't have either. BTW, I am not guilty; my usage was correct. See "Usage Note" at http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/nor
At least I contributed to the thread and answerd her questions. What did you offer? Nothing. |

Be careful, Junaid, any attempts to get people to act responsibly will result in threats as you are treading on sacred ground.

The compound is ORYX. Big Houses. Sterile Compound. No greenery. Very close to main road. Not much space. Close to Azizia Panda Supermarket. |

My goodness - how did they hear you sneeze?
Just kidding - but how uncommon (and, may I say, refreshing) to see such
courtesy and gentility on these boards.
God Bless You, Jacksonian.

Well I am a Jeffersonian myself, but a believer in diversity. Sorry about the sneeze. |

Oryx is OK; houses are reasonable, swimming pool, community center. The shopping complex across the road has an excellent cafe and sells everything you need. |

Saad Hospital pulled their people out of Oryx Compound about three years ago. The story I heard was that there was a "credible threat against foreign residents" Given that Oryx is just up the road from Oasis where there WAS a massacre in 2004 - this is credible.
Interesting that hardly anyone now talks about those murders in the siege of the Oasis Compound. Most of us just get on with the daily round and think about the next vacation, trip to Bahrain or the next treat that all of us, except for the 500 Club, allow ourselves.

They obviously don't study grammar and punctuation in Mississipi. |

Dear Sheik,
And they obviously don't teach kindness (but apparently do teach pickiness)
wherever it is you hail from.
Shame on you, Sheikh. You're a better man than that.
Regards,
John |
