|
|
Hello,
I have read 100's of job offers for 1 year contracts. I need to be back in the States by the end of July 2010. I realize many schools or institutes differ but can anyone tell me generally how difficult it is to leave one month early? Also, if the school year ends in July why are contracts extended until August or September?
Thanks for any input |

Wave goodbye to airfare refund would be my first reaction.
Second reaction is what would you shortchange your students with? Final assessment and mark? |

Thanks for the info!
That is why I am asking...I don't want to short change anyone but I need to be back in the States late July or early August. If it means causing too many problems then I won't accept a contract. I really do appreciate the opinions!! |

| My university ended at the end of June. By July 1st, after submitting grades, I was free to go. If you need to be home before 8/1, there shouldn't be a problem. |

Amy
You may be able to crib back a few days or even a week and stay on the right side of the FAO. You will need to think about it a month or so ahead and arrange for double lessons.
I haven't done it myself but other teachers I worked with did it to get home for Christmas ie leave early for the winter break.
Leaving early for summer could conceivably be done too I expect.
FAO would be more amenable if you have agreed to come back for the new academic year starting in early Sept.
If you are not comimg back FAOs lose interest in you and are much less co operative in my experience. |

| Amy I've just re read your latest post and unless you are doing summer camp you should be clear of your teaching duties by early July. |
