| Who's your employer going to be? If it's anyone to do with ADEC or the PPPs project, don't move furniture - their jobs are too unstable and uncertain. Pay for what you need only when you arrive and then buy as you go. If it's HCT or UAEU, then you're more likely to have stability. |

But... if you are working for the university level, you will get a furnture allowance. I would never go to the hassle of moving furniture here for what is most likely a short-term job.

I'm just getting in to Al Ain and starting to shop the local moving sales. Looking to hire someone with a lorry that can help me move appliances etc. that I buy used. Any recommendations? |

If your building has a harras/watchman, check with him.
Or the people that you are purchasing from may know of someone is they have been there awhile.

I can relate to that!!
But, I actually found that as a single woman, it was easier to find help in the Gulf than it is back home. Mainly because there are so many people who want and need to pick up some extra cash. Tip generously... they are very poorly paid... and you will make contacts that will always be there if you need assistance.
