Hi,

Has anyone worked or is planning to work in Malta during the summer months?

I've been thinking about teaching in Malta instead of back in England this summer. On paper it sounds like a great idea, there are plenty of English language schools on the island so hopefully plenty of work!

Well...Yeah, I have.

That's all I have to say on the subject!

I lived there as a kid and thought it might be fun to go back and take a look around.

Any links or anything you would be willing to share?

My plan at the moment is just to find a list of schools in Malta and apply directly to them.

This link here seems to have quite a few schools on there - http://www.eslbase.com/schools/malta

Only thing is that I don't know what's the best way to get about looking for work in Malta, and whether or not it would be possible for someone like myself with CELTA plus only one years experience to get a job there.

I wish I had Maltese contacts!

Hi,
I decided to answer because of your enthusiasm to teach in Malta.
Yes, there are numerous language schools who in summer mostly run courses for teens from other EU countries. You need to be of EU nationality of course, and/or have the run around to try and get all the paper work done.
One fact however is that it is suffocatingly hot in summer. Transport is by unairconditioned buses only. If you live in walking distance perhaps to the schools (I suggest Sliema or St Julians only) Go the route you suggested - contact the schools - all the chains there. They do always need people in summer and late summer. Many students come from all over Europe for short courses in everything from one week to weeks classes and small class to one on one. Hope that helps...
